Pat is heavily involved in commercial dispute resolution and litigation matters for Morrissey Law + Advisory.

Working on a range of litigation matters, including residential building disputes in NCAT, security of payment adjudications, and Local, District, and Supreme Court proceedings, Pat enjoys the dynamic nature of construction law and litigation.

A few of Patrick’s many highlights include:

  • Acted for a large civil infrastructure client involved in a dispute on the Forrestfield Airport Link project and successfully resolved the dispute worth ~$20M through adjudication and commercial negotiation.
  • Appearing in Local, District, and Supreme Court matters regarding construction disputes around variations, security of payment, and defects.
  • Instructing Counsel in Local, District and Supreme Court matters and working closely in the preparation of evidence and legal submissions.
  • Representing residential building contractors in successful NCAT and Expert Determination proceedings regarding contested variations and defect claims.
  • Representing homeowners in successful NCAT proceedings regarding defective works.
  • Advising clients in respect of NSW Department of Fair Trading investigations.
  • Instructing various experts in the preparation of expert evidence, including quantity surveyors, building consultants, delay experts, civil, structural, and mechanical engineers.
  • Advising a large civil works company on the avenues of recovering monies in respect of payments made for defective equipment.
  • Representing clients in negotiations regarding large-scale residential building dispute.
  • Undertaking secondment opportunities in large clients’ offices to prepare evidence for adjudication proceedings and act in contract administration roles.
