Josh is a UK-qualified solicitor with experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution with a focus on legal project management and building and constructions disputes.

Josh is a UK-qualified solicitor with experience in a range of complex litigation, insurance, and dispute matters, which brings a valuable insight to his role as Legal Project Manager at Morrissey Law + Advisory.

Before joining Morrissey Law + Advisory, Josh worked for an international construction and insurance law specialist based in London. There he gained experience representing insurers and construction professionals in a wide range of litigation, adjudication, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Since leaving the rain behind for pastures new and green, Josh has advised on various construction related projects including the delivery of an extensive Supreme Court discovery process, a number of residential building disputes, and security of payment adjudications. He continues to apply his trade by ensuring that our major project matters track as planned, providing a crucial link in our service delivery chain.

Josh is currently completing his equivalency qualifications through the University of Sydney and hopes to be admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW later this year.

A few of  Josh’s many highlights include:

  • Assisting both homeowners and contractors in NCAT proceedings regarding defective works.

  • Advising clients in relation to NSW Fair Trading matters including licensing requirements, Penalty Infringement Notices, and Rectification Orders.

  • Instructing Counsel in Local, District, and Supreme Court matters and working closely in the preparation of evidence and legal submissions.

  • Keeping practitioners updated on the operational implications of legislative developments such as the introduction of the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 (NSW).

  • Advising developers and apartment owners on suitable methods of recovery following the installation of non-compliant cladding on a number of residential tower blocks and hotels.

  • Successfully defending a principal contractor against a multi-million-pound delay claim on a high-end residential project in London.

  • Advising clients in relation to fire safety and external cladding in the UK, having worked on a public inquiry relating to the use of decorative and insulating cladding on high-rise development.

Outside of work you’ll find Josh supporting his local rugby club Merewether Carlton, or having a roll at Bar Beach Bowlo.

Trivia Night:

Josh’s specialty trivia topic is quotes from the iconic Aussie classic ‘The Castle’ and his go-to is a VB and a pie. Not bad for an Englishman!
