Hamish calls on his expertise in all aspects of construction and commercial law to develop valuable relationships with his clients and provide them with effective legal solutions to achieve the most beneficial commercial outcomes for their businesses.

Hamish has extensive and current experience across the civil, commercial, and residential sectors of the construction industry.

Partnering with our clients, Hamish primarily assists our clients during disputes and has and continues to work in all court jurisdictions in NSW, expert determinations, and security of payment matters.

Taking a pragmatic, results-orientated approach, Hamish strives to deliver commercial outcomes for his clients. He has a passion for detail and seeks to understand the whole of the client’s operations to best advise on the path forward.

A few of Hamish’s many highlights include:

  • Application for summary judgment on a payment claim worth in excess of $1.5M in hotly contested dispute (resolved).
  • Advising Builder on significant ($500k+) claim and response to more than 200 defects on $4M build (resolved with payment in full to Builder).
  • Advising structural engineers on security of payment claims against head contractors.
  • Acting in defects claim regarding technical issues around flammable cladding, waterproofing, and glazing defects (~$5M claim).
  • Assisting civil contractor in large SOP claim against a local council in relation to a seawall construction dispute (entirely successful on adjudication).
  • Defending $1.8M claim against glazing contractor by tier 2 builder for delays in works and liquidated damages claim (settled for less than 20% of claim).
  • Pursuing ~$10M claim by civil contractor for variation claims under large public infrastructure project (settled).
  • Acting for a precast concrete contractor in dispute with builder for electrical infrastructure and ultimately successful adjudication.
  • Acting for a concrete contractor in dispute over the installation of Parchem product on a major highway (resolved prior to court).
